About VerifyCar
Built so buyers stop getting burned
VerifyCar exists for one simple reason: buying a used car should not mean discovering expensive problems after the keys are in your hands. Important vehicle records already exist buyers just need a simple way to understand them before they commit their money.
VerifyCar makes that process easier with clear vehicle information from official sources, so you can check a car’s history before making one of the biggest purchases you will make.
Official PPSR & NEVDIS data
Government certificate included

Why we exist
The record was always there
Buying a used car privately is a major purchase, and knowing its history can make a real difference. A seller may not mention that the car was written off, that finance is still owing, or that it was previously reported stolen.
All of it sits in official registers. The problem was never that the information was missing — it was that raw register data is built for industry, not for people.
A PPSR certificate can contain codes and technical details that make sense to industry professionals but can be confusing when you are simply trying to decide whether a car is worth buying.
VerifyCar turns that information into a clear report that is easier to follow, while still providing the official certificate for your records. Our PPSR check Australia service gives you the key vehicle history information in one place for $9.95. If the search cannot be completed, your payment is automatically refunded.
Where the data comes from
Government registers, not guesswork
Every search runs against official PPSR and NEVDIS data. These are the same government-backed sources used to record important information about vehicles across Australia. We do not rely on guesses or unverified vehicle history information.
PPSR
Personal Property Securities Register
The Personal Property Securities Register is the Australian Government register of security interests, administered by AFSA. It can show whether money is owing on a vehicle and whether the vehicle has been recorded as written off or stolen.
This makes a VIN check Australia buyers can understand a useful step before paying for a used vehicle.
NEVDIS
National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System
NEVDIS is the national system that shares vehicle information between Australian state and territory registration authorities. It provides details such as the vehicle’s make, model, year, engine and compliance information.
These details can help you compare the recorded vehicle information with what the seller has told you or included in the advertisement.
PPS Act 2009
The certificate, issued under the Act
Every report includes the genuine PPSR certificate as a PDF. It provides a record of the PPSR search carried out for the vehicle and the date on which the search was completed.
The certificate is the official search record, while VerifyCar’s report makes the available information easier to read and understand.
Card payments are handled by Stripe. VerifyCar never sees or stores your card details.
Who runs VerifyCar
People who check cars for a living
VerifyCar is operated by CarAssure, a pre-purchase vehicle inspection business. Its inspectors meet sellers, assess vehicles and help buyers understand what they are actually purchasing.
That practical experience is one of the reasons we built VerifyCar the way we did. We already spend our days helping buyers understand vehicle findings, so presenting history information in plain English was a natural extension of that work.
A history check and a physical inspection answer different questions. A history check shows what the official records say about a vehicle. An inspection looks at the vehicle’s actual condition. For buyers, both can provide useful information before making a purchase.
What that means for your report
- Vehicle history findings explained in clear, everyday language
- No subscription or recurring payment
- A real business behind the service that you can contact by email
- Automatic refunds when a search cannot be completed
What we stand for
Official data only
Our checks use official PPSR and NEVDIS information to help buyers understand a vehicle’s recorded history. We do not fill gaps with assumptions or make claims about information that is not available in the records.
Plain English, always
Vehicle history information can be difficult to understand when it is presented only as codes and technical terms. We explain the available results in straightforward language so you can understand what the report says without needing to work in the automotive industry.
Our aim is to provide a trusted car history check Australia buyers can use to review important vehicle information before making a purchase.
Fair by default
We believe checking a vehicle should be simple and transparent. You pay once for the report, with no subscription or recurring charges.
If a search cannot be completed, you receive an automatic refund. There are no forms to fill in and no need to chase your money.
What we are building
Honest about what is not ready
Today, VerifyCar checks vehicles by VIN. We are also working on two additional search options, but neither will be offered until it is ready to provide useful and reliable information.
Coming soon
Search by rego
Look a vehicle up using its registration number and state, without having to find the VIN first. This will make it easier for buyers who have the registration details but do not yet have the vehicle identification number.
The PPSR itself is VIN-based, so the registration search will need to match the number plate to the correct VIN before the PPSR search can be completed.
Coming soon
Odometer history
Recorded odometer readings can give buyers another useful way to review a vehicle’s history and spot possible inconsistencies in mileage records.
This feature depends on access to additional third-party data, which is why it is not currently included in our reports.
Until then, the $9.95 report does not include odometer data and we will not pretend otherwise.
Check the car before you commit
Two minutes and $9.95 can give you important information to consider before spending thousands on a used vehicle.
VerifyCar provides a straightforward vehicle history report Australia buyers can use to check available information about finance, write-off records, stolen status and vehicle details.
Our car history check Australia service uses official PPSR and NEVDIS data and includes the government certificate with every completed report. It is designed to help you understand the recorded history of a vehicle before you hand over your money.
